Dr. Larry A. Maxwell is the founder of Brighter Future US, an organization whose goal is to make a Brighter Future by mobilizing people at the grassroots level to influence America in a positive way.
Dr. Maxwell has served as the Pastor of The Patterson Baptist Church in Patterson, New York since 1995. The church was officially organized in 1751, making it the Oldest Baptist Church in New York State. The church has been a leader in positive social action from its earliest history to the present day. It was part of the Danbury Baptist Association, which wrote to President Thomas Jefferson, seeking protection for minority religions. Jefferson replied with his famous Separation of Church and State letter, which guaranteed government would not interfere with religious expression. The church was a leader in the anti-slavery movement and a leader for women’s rights. It granted women the right to vote in 1825, almost 100 years before the 19th Amendment. Under the ministry of Dr. Maxwell, the church helped establish Habitat for Humanity of Putnam County and became actively involved in the Southern Baptist Convention and its Disaster Relief outreach, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Dr. Maxwell has a weekly television program called The Sound of Hope, which has aired for more than 10 years. Every week he brings messages of life and hope to his viewers.
Dr. Maxwell is one of the few men ordained to the ministry by the late Dr. Jerry Falwell, Pastor of Thomas Rd. Baptist Church, Lynchburg, VA. Dr. Falwell, was the founder of Liberty University and Moral Majority. Dr. Maxwell graduated from Liberty University in 1975 and was active in Moral Majority, one of the organizations that helped Ronald Reagan become President.
Dr. Maxwell is a popular conference speaker and founder of Challenge International, an organization which has helped challenge others to greater service, around the world, since 1981.
Dr. Maxwell is an award winning journalist. He wrote for a number of newspapers and was awarded the First Place Writing Award by the Associated Press. He is the author of numerous books and articles.
Dr. Maxwell has a passion for keeping History Alive and teaching others. He is the official Town Historian for the Town of Patterson, New York and served as Chairman of the Company of Military Historians at West Point. He is the founder of the Living History Guild, an organization that helps bring history to life with re-enactors and special programs. He served as Historical Advisor to a number of film projects and for the History Channel.
The Governor of Kentucky bestowed the title of Colonel upon Dr. Maxwell for his outstanding service.
Dr. Maxwell has been married to his wife Rebekah, since 1975, and has four grown children and eight grandchildren.
